Very beautiful castle. Our apartment was amazing and had the best views of the Tuscan countryside. We rented a car, and getting into the city was about half an hour away. Everything was accessible and had everything we needed- kitchen, extra blankets. We had a lot of luggage, and pulling it up the hill was harder, but we couldn’t complain & it was all worth it. The receptionist was super friendly and very accommodating. Highly recommend walking around the beautiful castle and watching the sunset. We will definitely be back.

Firstly the location is awesome. A breathtakingly beautiful spot. The grounds were like staying in an attraction in itself. Staying in a castle was just the coolest thing ever and so unique. The restaurant on the grounds was top notch. We only ate there once but would have eaten there every night but we had a lot of day trips planned so we were not there for dinner. Staff was very pleasant. Beds were comfortable, shower hot, plenty of cookware in kitchen. Only downsides were that the floors were pretty filthy. But I imagine the stonework is nearly impossible to clean. We wore our flip flops walking around the inside so that we didn't track dirt and dust into our beds. Also, there were bugs everywhere. Mosquitoes, moths, centipedes, and flies. This didn't bother us too much since we are not sensitive to bugs and understood that is sort of the nature of staying in the countryside in a castle vs a modern hotel. Overall, we loved it!

The place was truly amazing. If you are looking for a unique piece of history that has breathtaking views and a wow factor of staying in a 14th century castle then this is your place. The place was very nice and in a great location. The villa had AC in the bedroom, which was great, and it has the charm you’d expect from an old villa. That said, the bathroom (especially the showers) could use a little renovation. The restaurant on-site was really good, and the staff at check-in were very nice and welcoming. The castle was beautiful! A couple of small downsides: I thought the washer was in the unit, but it wasn’t, and the living and dining areas could use a bit more lighting. Overall, I’d still recommend the experience, it was enjoyable!

Waanzinnige locatie, echt een sprookje. Fijn zwembad omringd door groen. De tuinen zijn goed onderhouden. Er is een bar met goede, lekkere en betaalbare drankjes. Helaas gaat deze wel pas om 17:30 open. Een drankje om 15:00 als je bij het zwembad ligt is lekker. Het appartement is schoon en prima. De keuken mag echter wel wat uitgebreider: geen scherp mes, geen peper/zout/suiker/olijfolie. Ik zag een eerdere recensie die dit ook beschreef maar er is nog geen verbetering. Er lagen nog twee vuile borden in de kast van de vorige vakantiegangers. In de omgeving goede restaurant in verschillende prijsklassen. Het kasteel is zeker een aanrader om heen te gaan!

miejsce jest przepiękne, widoki i sam zamek zapiera dech w piersiach. okolica jest bardzo spokojna (bez auta byłoby ciężko gdziekolwiek się dostać) dużo prywatności, byliśmy z partnerem pod koniec sierpnia i ludzi było bardzo mało przez co można było odczuć dużą prywatność. W obiekcie jest mała restauracja, żeby tam zjeść polecam zrobić rezerwację w recepcji bo jest tylko parę stoliczków. Pokoje były bardzo czyste, w rustykalnym stylu, odczuwalny taki "kościelny" zapach w pokoju przy pierwszym wejściu ale przyzwyczailiśmy się do niego i nam to nie przeszkadzało. Przed wymeldowaniem musieliśmy wynieść śmieci. Podatek turystyczny musieliśmy zapłacić również przy wymeldowaniu 2 euro za osobę na dzień(była informacja ze płatność tego podatku jest gotówką jednak można było także zapłacić kartą więc duży plus bo akurat nie mieliśmy ze soba gotówki). Ogólne wrażenia bardzo pozytywne i bardzo wszystkim polecam.

Nous avons passé un superbe séjour, au coeur de la Toscane. L'environnement est magnifique, le lieu superbe et paisible. Les commerces et restaurants sont accessibles à 5/8minutes en voiture, mais chaque trajet est une promenade et découverte. L'appartement est très grand et agréable. La cuisine manque un petit peu d'équipement et d'un fond d'épicerie. Nous recommandons ce logement!

had a great & unique experience. its filled with italian charm. the swimming pool got filled up quickly, but it was still beautiful and enjoyable. Don't expect a 5 star resort kinda amenities, its an old castle that's maintained well. Special credits to the reception & the people at the restaurant. They were super accommodating & responded well to our rather unique requests (being able to have takeaway from the restaurant when we didnt have reservation, providing us with condiments, utensils etc). it was a very relaxing weekend!

Das Schloss ist wirklich wunderschön! Der Garten und Pool inklusive Ausblick laden zum entspannen ein. Jedoch muss einem bewusst sein, dass ohne ein Auto umliegende Dörfer schwer zu erreichen sind. Zum Runterkommen und Entspannen aber perfekt. Das Zimmer ist einwandfrei; sauber und funktional eingerichtet. Jedoch fehlen bei der Küchenaustattung wesentliche Basics, wie Salz, Pfeffer und Öl. We hebben een heerlijke tijd gehad in Montegufoni. Het is een geweldige beleving om hier te mogen verblijven, (wij zaten er totaal 12 nachten) Het verblijf (nummer 27) is modern, groot en comfortabel. Een paar tips om van een 9 een 10 te maken wat ons betreft:

- bedden vervangen voor box-springs. (eerste week een beetje rugpijn)
- airco toevoegen, het kan er echt bloedheet worden.
- keuken uitrusting was beperkt, wij hadden bijvoorbeeld ons eigen koffie automaat meegenomen wat een beetje vreemd is, bovendien was er geen oven.
- Een smart TV zou de luxe beleving helemaal af maken.

Verder niks dan lof, zeer indrukwekkend kasteel, bijzonder aardig personeel, fijn restaurant en een heerlijk zwembad.

C'est l'endroit idéal pour s'immerger dans ce que l'Italie a de plus beau, à savoir son architecture. Les appartements ont gardé leur style d'époque, c'est vraiment chouette ! Es war eine idyllische Schlossatmosphäre. Die Wohnungen sind dementsprechend einfach ausgestattet. Es fehlte ein Backofen und man hatte keine normalen Steckdosen, wobei man das notwendige Zubehör kaufen musste.

Usamos o Castelo de Montegufoni para visitar toda parte do Chianti. Super funcionou para nossa família, já que a viagem mais longa foi de apenas 50 minutos. O apartamento é lindo demais e a experiência de ficar em um castelo é inesquecível. A única ressalva que faço é sobre acessibilidade: o castelo tem algumas entradas com escadas e o apartamento conta com um escada bem íngreme. De resto, é uma linda experiência.

We enjoyed our stay at this apartment. It was a good location for us to day trip to visit the area with our kids. The apartment was sparse but clean and we enjoyed the pool and the convenience of the restaurant for a meal. Because this is more a hotel than an AirBNB do not expect any amenities (basics in the kitchen, pool towels, hair dryer). Check in and out times are also strict so make sure to note those when planning to avoid extra charges.

Beautiful area to visit and explore. Accommodation was rustic but fun to stay in. It’s a very old building with much charm. Don’t expect luxury like duvets or any supplies, but it is comfortable enough. They have a pool and bar. You cannot get food before late afternoon or evening so you are on your own at this level. The restaurant is average. It’s a good base to stay in to explore the area. A fun experience. They should open the bar in the morning for coffee or cuppucinos but they do not. Good restaurants are close by. I highly recommend bistrot Lo Zero in Montespertoli. Amazing food and service at that restaurant.

Staying here was like stepping into a fairytale, surrounded by stunning scenery, character and history. The apartment was spacious and comfortable. It was very warm when we stayed so we took advantage of the pool and fans provided in the bedrooms. Excellent communication and smooth check in process. Just wow! absolutely gorgeous setting,idyllic. We pre booked the restaurant for our first and last night (you need to prebook so you're not disappointed) Our apartment was great and had everything we needed for our 4night stay. We got provisions for breakfast at the nearby shop. Reception were super helpful in booking wine tasting and a vespa tour. We'd definitely visit again and thoroughly recommend it.

Posto incantevole, Pulito, ordinato, facile da raggiungere. Perfetto per relax e a giusta distanza da Firenze - Lucca - Pisa - Pistoia. La struttura è pulita, fresca, ottimi consigli lasciati stampati (menu - dove andare - che cosa fare - massaggi - taxi e via dicendo). La nostra camera era priva di aria condizionata però c'era un ventilatore che ha fatto il suo lavoro. Siamo stati 2 notti in coppia. Il ristorante è aperto solo la sera per cui per colazione e pranzo bisogna trovare una soluzione, in zona ci sono alimentari bar ristoranti e cantine per cui è facile arrangiarsi. Consiglio e spero di tornarci anche fuori stagione (primavera o autunno) per vedere i colori della campagna

We really enjoyed our stay. I find it fantastic how the accommodation is set in this historic building. In that spirit, I forgive any imperfections.
The accommodation was clean and the equipment was in order. Our only concern was the old air conditioning, which was barely enough to cool one of the two rooms where we slept. We pointed this out to the staff and they promised to discuss it with the owner.
After trips around the area, we appreciated the large swimming pool hidden in the greenery.
The staff was very nice and helpful.
If we are in Tuscany again, we will be happy to return.

Wir haben in einem Nebenhaus des Castellos gewohnt, schönes rustikales Mobiliar und Ausstattung. Klimaanlage, Küche mit guter Ausstattung, Parkplatz direkt davor. Der Pool ist sehr gepflegt, und das Restaurant im Castello hat sehr gute Küche. Insgesamt sehr zu empfehlen, 30 Autominuten von Florenz entfernt, San Gimignano, Volterra und Siena alle innerhalb einer Autostunde.

Schönes Schloss mit tollem Blick über die Toskana. Auf der Anlage gibt es Historisches und Verwunschenes zu entdecken, man bleibt trotz anderer Besucher angenehm unter sich. Unser Appartement hatte eine Terrasse und eine Klimaanlage, was ich für den Sommer echt empfehlen würde. Negativ: die Mücken nerven nachts teilweise auch in den Räumen und man braucht für Unternehmungen wirklich ein Auto, weil fußläufig wenig zu erreichen ist. Positiv: sehr freundliche Rezeption und entgegen der Angaben auf der Website, dass man Spülmittel und Toilettenpapier mitbringen muss, war in der Wohnung dann doch alles vorhanden (Gewürze jeglicher Art allerdings tatsächlich nicht!). Für 2-3 Tage entspannten Erholungsurlaub aus meiner Sicht prima geeignet.

Uns hat der Aufenthalt insgesamt gut gefallen. Die Anlage ist sehr schön und gepflegt, perfekt zum Entspannen. Das Apartment war sauber und ordentlich, allerdings etwas warm – trotz Klimaanlage. Auch hätten wir uns ein bisschen mehr Ausstattung gewünscht, z. B. zusätzliche Handtücher für den Pool und mehr Möglichkeiten, Handtücher aufzuhängen. Trotzdem hatten wir eine sehr angenehme Zeit und können die Unterkunft weiterempfehlen.

Wir hatten einen sehr schönen Aufenthalt in dieser Außergewöhnlichen Anlage. Die Zimmer war gut ausgestattet und sauber. Die Anreise mit dem Auto ist Pflicht, zu Fuß ist das Schloss so gut wie gar nicht zu erreichen. Man kann von hier aus viele Dinge unternehmen, wir besuchten Pisa, Siena, Montepulciano, San Gimignano und Florenz. Die Nähe zu Florenz war der Grund weshalb wir dieses Appartement wählten. Das Restaurant im Schloss war hervorragend. Der Pool war sauber und die Gärten waren wunderschön. Einige Dinge in der Anlage sind etwas in die Jahre gekommen, was dem ganzen keinen Abbruch. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

We greatly enjoyed our stay here at Montegufoni Castle. It was beautiful, relaxing (exactly why we chose it), and a peaceful space. We loved learning about the history, exploring the grounds, and our apartment was cozy and extremely clean upon arrival. The staff were helpful and friendly, and we ended up making a few friends at dinner as well! We got what we expected, and we would recommend it to anyone on their way to Italy in the future!

Byliśmy z dwójka dzieci na wakacjach rodzinnych i jesteśmy zachwyceni. Apartament był bardzo obszerny z pięknym widokiem z każdej strony. Wszędzie bardzo czysto. Wspaniałe miejsce jako baza wypadowa do Pizy (1h), Sieny(1h) nie wspominając o Florencji (30 min).Bardzo przyjaźni ludzie z obsługi. Czas spędzony w zamku Montegufoni był dla całej naszej rodziny magiczny. Na pewno wrócimy.

This is the most beautiful castello set in gorgeous grounds. Staff really helpful and friendly, great food at the restaurant. We did not have wifi in our apartment but were able to hotspot mobile phones. Absolutely loved our stay here and would come back again - thank you.

Wonderful location with stunning local scenery. Simple yet functional apartment with pleasant view over the courtyard. Great staying a Villa Osbert, during New Eve's holidays with the family. The villa easily hosts up to 8 people and has plenty of space to relax in front of the fireplace with a glass of Chianti. Strategically positioned and clean, it needs some renewals for the bathroom and the kitchen, to offer a full equipment and more comfort. Personnel was very helpful during the visit, replacing missing items and answering any questions we had. Remote checkout available, with no surprise.

We spent a great time at the castle, the flat is in the old building and very charming. The only down side is that there is no first necessity in the kitchen ???? (no salt, pepper, olive oil, cafe etc…) which is always very useful we we rent a flat. Nice location with a great view over the hills of Tuscany, not too far from Florence

We were amazed by the accommodation here. This exceeded our expectations as the rooms were massive with amazing frescos and furniture. It's a castle so you need to expect some darkness - each of the rooms had giant windows that looked out over the Tuscan countryside. We were meant to use this as a base to explore Florence but ended up just spending our two full days on site, with kids swimming in the freezing cold pool. A few drinks at the restaurant kept us entertained while we waited until 7.30pm for dinner (why so late Europe???). The restaurant was lovely with beautiful fresh food. This is definitely a lovely relaxing place to stay!

We loved staying at this beautiful property! It was easy to find with GPS, check in went smoothly, and the room was as described in the listing. It is a very simple room, and at the time of check in they do note they only provide enough basic supplies to get you started (soap, toilet paper, etc) but not enough for the entire stay. We stayed in late September and there was no need for air conditioning, the windows had bug screens so we left the windows open most of the time and kept plenty cool. The property is beautiful & the restaurant on site is delicious. The 2 waitresses, Elaina & Simone, were so friendly & welcoming each night! I would stay here again!

This is just as stunning as its photographs. It made an ideal base for us to strike out to Pisa, Sienna, a beach and San Gimignano. Their own restaurant was nice and we also found others within 10 minutes drive for variety. A high point for us was to go on their top recommended wine tasting at a nearby castle. We learnt a lot and their Chianti was superb.

Charming, quiet & private estate. The onsite restaurant is very good! The grounds are kept well & the apartment was lovely. Things to note are there is no coffee, breakfast or lunch service onsite and nothing super close by. Your best bet would be to grab some groceries before you get there. Il Folcolare was a hidden gem of a restaurant we actually did walk to and it was extremely good with local wines. If you are looking for low key and down time, this is your spot!

The castle is beautiful with stunning grounds and the room was clean and spacious. There are vineyards all around the castle - make sure you book a wine tasting at Frescobaldi! Having a pool was a lovely addition - we stayed in September and there was enough lounger space and the weather was great. Things to bear in mind: The nearest town which has a supermarket is an 8 minute drive away so make sure you have a car! There aren’t really any amenities provided, but that was made clear to us before we arrived. As we were staying for a short time, it meant we had to bin lots of unfinished food and drink. Overall we were happy with our stay in this beautiful place. Thank you for having us!

It is a very beautiful place in and out. The view is incredible and the castel it's straight out of a fairytale. The personnel was really nice and receptive, also they helped us with any questions we had. The restaurant is amazing, the food is really delicious. We had a great experience. When we saw how many stairs we had to climb to get to our room, we were quite scared at first???? but it was worth it( after all it's a castel). The only thing that may have caused a problem was the heath. It's quite hot in the rooms but there were ventilators in every room so that was really helpful. Overall, we had a great experience and will be back❤️❤️

Eine schöne Unterkunft in einem prunkvollen Anwesen. Das hier angebotene Zimmer gehört eher zu den kleineren Zimmern im Haus und hat leider keinen Ausblick. Das Zimmer groß genug für den Aufenthalt, leider war uns die Dusche viel zu klein. Darüber hinaus gab es nichts zu bemängeln. Der Pool war sauber und hatte schöne liegen zum entspannen. Einen Besuch ist die Unterkunft wert.

Wir waren 5 Tage in diesem wunderschönen Ort ein paar Kilometer außerhalb von Florenz. Das Schloss ist wunderschön und gepflegt und auch der Pool lädt zum Verweilen ein. Auch das Restaurant ist sehr zu empfehlen. Mit den Öffis kommt man kostengünstig und binnen kürzester Zeit zum Hauptbahnhof. Erwähnenswert ist auch die Freundlichkeit des Teams. Our stay at Castello Montegufoni was simply magical. The castle's historic charm combined with modern luxury provided an exceptional experience. Valentina's warm hospitality made us feel incredibly welcome. The accommodations were elegant and comfortable and the restaurant is very, very good. Ideal for exploring the region, this castle is a true Tuscan gem. Only thing to note: pack mosquito repellent, the pool area becomes a bloodbath after 16:00.

What an amazing and beautiful place. It was like a fairytale castle Our villa was beautiful and the views take your breath away.. The grounds are stunning, the pool was lovely and very clean. We ate at the restaurant which was really lovely with great food and service. Pisa and Florence are all within just over an hours drive away. We wish we could put into words how amazing this place is, our advise is to stay and see for yourselves, you will not be disappointed. We stayed with our 2 children (daughter of 14 and son of 11) it was ideal as they loved the pool and grounds. We were by the pool either first thing in the morning or later on in the afternoon after a day out and is always clean with places to relax by it. All the staff was very kind and friendly. Like I said there really are not enough words to describe this place and it’s beauty. We would most certainly go back and recommend it to others.

Montegufoni castle is absolutely beautiful. Staying in the cottages was a great value for money way to experience this beautiful part of Tuscany. Use of all the castle amenities included, which are lovely - beautiful pool, fantastic restaurant, space to roam with children - we used the chest of games in the reception area, drinks from the bar enjoyed on the terrace. The cottage gave us the space we needed and has air conditioning in both bedrooms which made sleeping comfortable when we visited at the beginning of August. Very handy for Florence - we visited 2 days and drove in and parked in about 40 minutes. We stopped in pisa on the way - about an hour away. Accomodation was clean and had everything we needed. Loads of space and beautiful views. Wifi was great. We had a toddler with us and the cottage does have a stone staircase which we had to be mindful of. Good shower. We were welcomed warmly and shown around. We loved our stay here and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to others.

The castle is stunning, peaceful and has incredible views over the Tuscan countryside. We watched the sunset on one side and full moonrise on the other. The restaurant was useful for evenings when we didn’t want to drive elsewhere. Everyone was so friendly and food good. Morning swims with the pool to ourselves, busier in the middle of the day with lots of families. You need to bring all you need for breakfasts etc but the apartment has all the equipment you need to create simple meals.

The house was nice although we missed general items (scissors to open groceries, salt, pepper, olive oil). The downstairs bedroom did not have curtains against the light, this was not nice in the early mornings.

More beds by the pool and beds with back support to read a book more sitting would be appreciated.

The area is lovely and the staff super friendly. With the house and pool area with a bit more comfort we would definitely consider coming back.

Die Städte Siena, Pisa, San Gimignano sind mit dem Auto in ca. 50 min alle sehr gut erreichbar. Florenz ist in ca. 30 min. erreichbar. Auto ist empfohlen.

The castle grounds were beautiful and our kids really enjoyed the pool and table tennis table. The location is fantastic - a great base to explore Florence (only 20 min away) or the Tuscan towns. Our only complaint was that the villa was very basic and would benefit from some maintenance / upgrades. The bedrooms had air conditioning units, but they were really loud and did not work particularly well...making it difficult to sleep. Also, the showerhead in the bathroom did not work well and needs to be replaced. It also would have been nice to have some essential basic items in the unit (toilet paper, paper towels, core spices, etc.) and a coffee maker for visitors traveling internationally. A few minor adjustments would go a long way to maximize the unique experience of staying in Montegufoni.

Unser Aufenthalt im Castello di Montegufoni war einfach wunderschön. Das Schloss bietet eine atemberaubende Atmosphäre, das Essen im Restaurant war super lecker und ebenfalls mit schönem Ambiente. Das Apartment war sehr sauber und nett eingerichtet. Ein Highlight war natürlich auch der Pool, der zum entspannen einlädt. Wir werden auf jeden Fall wiederkommen☺️

The castle is fantastic, and the apartment was nice. To be an apartment where you must cook your food and be self sufficient, I think the equipment in the kitchen could be better. Like better cooking knives, cuttingboard etc…
I think if there were to be a washing cloth, dishwashing soap and other basics like toiletpaper, it would be easy for you to fix, and better customerservice.

Why dont you have an open bar for lunch and drinks at least during the high season? With so many visiting the pool during the day, that would only be a win win situation for you, I think.

I loved the atmosphere, and dining in the restaurant at night was a really nice experience. Would be lovely with more variation to the menu though. And the food was a bit too salt.

The castle was so beautiful, and we loved the mix of the old architecture and furnishings with modern furnishings. And the grounds and view are incredible! We chose this place because we were traveling without a car and the listing said a bus to Florence was easily accessible. Valentina in the registration office was SO helpful with this (and many other things), giving us a schedule and describing exactly where the stop was. The restaurant was delicious and a dreamy space. Overall, this was a wonderful place to relax any day, and especially after busy days in Florence.

Unser Aufenthalt war sehr entspannend. Die Unterkunft zeichnet sich vor allem durch die ruhige Lage und die wunderschöne und gepflegte Anlage aus. Der Pool liegt sehr ruhig und war absolut ausreichend. Die Städte rundherum waren sehr gut erreichbar, die Unterkunft war eine super Ausgangslage für Tagesausflüge. Florenz ist beispielsweise innerhalb von 25 Minuten mit dem Auto erreichbar. Wir sind zu einem großen, kostenlosen Parkplatz gefahren und dann mit der Trambahn in das Stadtzentrum, das war hervorragend. Für viele Tagesausflüge liegen Flyer mit allen wichtigen Infos aus. Die Ausstattung der Wohnung war ausreichend, alles notwendige war vorhanden. Wie üblich sollte man an Gewürze, Klopapier, Öl etc. denken. Parkplätze sind ausreichend vorhanden. Das Restaurant in der Unterkunft war hervorragend! Wir können die Unterkunft absolut empfehlen!

My wife & I had the most wonderful stay at montegufoni. The castle is magnificent, the staff are super friendly & extremely helpful. Our room was pristine & we wish we could’ve stayed longer! Our only recommendation is that you 100% need to pre organise a car as there is next to no public transport around the area. So we did a lot of walking! Lots of wineries and beautiful landscapes around the area to experience & admire. Couldn’t recommend this stay more! :)

We very much enjoyed our stay at Montegufoni. The room had plenty of space for the four of us and the surrounding area was beautiful. Reception was friendly and we were lucky enough to enjoy two meals at the restaurant for dinner. The views were amazing! Make the time for a dip in the pool and cocktails on the veranda. The nearby town of Boccia had friendly locals where we able to have a coffee and pastry in the mornings and shop for groceries. The location was good for visiting many other towns in Tuscany and traveling the Chianti trail.

Staying at Montegufoni had us feeling like royalty for a short while. The modern adaptations made to the castle provide much comfort to its guests. Contrary to some previous comments we were not faced with additional fees outside of the tourist tax (which was expect and clearly written out). The restaurant and its service provides a personalized touch to each individual table, seating was set with guests in mind. The food was simply remarkable, ourselves we had the melon and prosciutto, seasonal vegetable soup, wild boar and lasagna; we our still talking about this being one of the best meals during our time in Italy.

We stayed here with 5 friends, for our annual ''Girls Trip''. Unfortunately, we were unable to arrive within the Receptions opening times, but they arranged a flexible check-in for us, which was highly appreciated. They also offered a grocery service, so upon arrival, we had a filled fridge. The Castle is the most authentic accommodation we've every stayed in. All of us want to come back with family or partners. The restaurant was great as well, we enjoyed the food. The apartment we stayed in was a little outdated, but what to expect from a building like this? The only downside of the apartment was that the beds were quite hard, but that's a personal preference. Overall we rate the accommodation 10/10. Enjoyed the stay and for 100% we will be back here.

Exactly what you want in a Tuscany Castle accommodation; striking architecture, peaceful surroundings, pool, well manicured grounds, and tasteful cuisine from on site restaurant. Keep in mind, restaurant does not open until 7:30 PM and bar has limited timing; however, there is a market nearby with all you could ask for. Receptionist Valentina was extremely pleasant personality and always avail for assistance to help make our stay optimal.

This was an extremely scenic stay, the Castello was charming and views of the Tuscan countryside were spectacular! Do bring a car as it’s quite difficult to get around otherwise, and make way to the town of Montespertoli for your lunch/dinner. Siena is an hour away and great for a day trip! Overall, very pleased with our stay as it gave us the quintessential Tuscan experience :)

Solo me gustaría destacar como algo negativo el Restaurante del castillo: Me parece increíble que en un sitio tan maravilloso no tengan una mejor cocina. La peor pasta que hemos probado en toda la Toscana y un trato muy lejos del que han demostrado el resto de trabajadores del castillo. Poner música pop de la radio con un volumen muy alto con un altavoz portátil, en una sala que no es muy grande no es nada agradable y no concuerda con el ambiente que se respira en Montegufoni. Lo considero un apartado aparte y por eso no bajo la calificación. El castillo como estancia es maravilloso!!

The experience in the Montegufoni castle is really authenthic. The surrounding scenery is just breathtaking nature, as there is a nice 4.5km circular path around the wineyards, clear hills and occasional farm houses, great for walks. There is a nice secluded pool, and a couple of different areas of the castle which were great for chilling out, reading a book or just enjoying the sun. There is a restaurant/bar which works only in the evening, but there were some close local trattorias and wineries a couple of kilometers around. We had an appartment with a fully functioning kitchen (with gas stoves, pots, cutlerry and even mocca pot), so we could prepare meals and coffee for chilling at the terrace. You definitively need a car for this location, as the closest supermarket is in a village 5km from the castle, and nothing is provided in the appartment (we had to buy additional toilet paper, olive oil and coffee). The receptionists and workers were pleasent and helpful.

This castle is very beautiful but rustic. This is a 13th century castle. We were a family of 5 (including 70+ and 2 kids under 14). This is not a typical Airbnb type like- cannot cook basic breakfast like eggs or anything. It has dishes and bowls but not pans or any such. The staircases were big and long- so it was difficult for the senior member of our family (no elevators/lifts) . Its huge and spacious. Loved the restaurant food.
Overall, the place is good if you are just a family with kids. It gets challenging when you have seniors travelling with you.

This place was amazing! We stayed 3 nights and truly enjoyed our stay. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms were clean. The location is great and the property was absolutely gorgeous! There are several cute towns nearby to grab groceries, meals or a coffee. There were also several wineries nearby. You definitely will want to rent a car as taxi's to this area can be very expensive, but it's well worth it!

It was an amazing place. The apartment itself was huge, with beautiful bedrooms, lots of windows and a terrace where we had lovely breakfasts every morning. While it was easy to reach Florence and other towns scattered around, we spend quite some time in the hotel, or in its garden, or near the swimming pool. Wherever you look - it's very beautiful, and you can go on a hide through the wineyards and olive gardens.

Castello di Montegufoni was incredibly beautiful and peaceful. The views, rooms, and on-site restaurant deliver a true Tuscan experience. Note that Montegufoni is rather out of the way from major transit. There is a bus route that passes near the castle (37) which was suspended during our stay there. This was not not known by the reception at the time and this provided some confusion and us taking the wrong bus to Empoli. Nonetheless, if your goal is to spend a few nights in an incredible castle I would recommend this place 10/10 times. It’s perfectly situated between Florence and San Gimignano if you want to hop between those two locations. Just make sure your transit situation is figured out beforehand. In my opinion spend the extra $ on taxis.

Just keep in mind that there is a $18 Euro heating fee (per day) that is hard to find on this listing. You also need to be self sufficient- you need to remove your own rubbish and the basics aren't provided (salt and pepper). You also have to have a car and you can't get around on public transport. The pictures are accurate

We got a bit unlucky with the weather in October. It rained a lot and so we didn't spend as much time enjoying the beautiful grounds or the lovely pool or simply walking in the hills as we had hoped to. We mostly used the castle as a base from which to explore Florence, Siena, Pisa (all about an hour's drive away) and even Venice (3hr drive). Technically, for this trip at this time of year, a little Airbnb in Florence would have been a better choice for us. However, Montegufoni is absolutely beautiful, our apartment in the castle was spacious, clean, quiet and felt very private. We enjoyed our time there thoroughly. We failed to note that no basic supplies are provided in the kitchen (such as sugar, salt, coffee etc., and you have to bring your own toilet paper, too. Not a problem, just good to know.) Highly recommend a car! Very friendly and helpful staff, great (dinner) restaurant, accurate pics - we wouldn't hesitate to recommend this stay to anyone, ideally in fine weather :)

Such a beautiful location. It was peaceful. Exploring the castle was very interesting and fun. The food is so delicious. Definitely will return to the castle again and I wish we had longer. Our apartment was very cute, we enjoyed cooking and eating together. The only thing I would say is that it’s important to hire a car. This was recommended by the staff and hiring a car was a good decision.

Amazing place to stay - it was like something out of a film! We arrived late due to flights and check in was super easy with the host giving clear instructions. We didn’t actually rent a car and used the local bus instead, which was super easy and reliable (although we did get a taxi from the airport when we landed). Wir genossen den Aufenthalt sehr. Eine räumlich grosszügige, vielfältige, herrschaftliche historische Anlage mit vielen Aufenthaltsorten ausserhalb der Wohnung und einem sehr schönen Garten. Auch das Abendessen im Freien im Restaurant, welches jeweils am Abend offen hatte, war sehr gastfreundlich und mit gutem Essen. Bei Fragen wurde gerne geholfen. Ein Auto ist sinnvoll, da etwas abgelegen.

Wie im paradies und einfach nur zu empfehlen. Es ist so wie man sich die Toskana vorstellt mit einem tollen Ausblick in die Weiten. Das Castello hat einfach seinen eigenen Charm. Die mitarbeiterinnen sind sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. das essen im hauseigenen Restaurant ist sehr lecker mit einem tollen preisleistungsverhöltnis. This place is so beautiful it is beyond words. The staff in both reception and the restaurant are sweet and kind! I wanted to give it 5 stars but unfortunately we ran into a couple problems i won’t list them all here! We were expecting to stay in the castle (and we did have access to it) but not one of the rooms inside of it. The room we did have in a building next to it was really nice and clean and cute! Also I think it’s VERY important to note that if you are going to stay here you should have a car as public transportation is not reliable and a taxi is around 100€ to go anywhere from here! The only other thing was that we received a packet after checking in with a lot more information and rules about the stay than what is listed here on airbnb. I think that a lot of them apply more to people staying a long duration.

Stunning location with the most beautiful grounds. We were a little nervous about the reviews but so pleased we went anyway. The castle felt like we had gone back in time. The pool was clean. The restaurant at night was convenient. Wish our car was smaller to navigate the tricky roads, but that’s everywhere in Chianti. You need a car to stay here. No salt/ pepper/ coffee or oil, so make sure to do a full shop if you want to spend anytime for meals at the accom. There aren’t a lot of choices for breakfast etc. it would have been great if this was available. Loved our stay all in all!!

The place is a bit tricky to get to if you're not used to driving on country roads, however, this is what makes it a bit more special. The location is beautiful , really nice surroundings, the castle itself is great and you must do a little explore, and there's also a nice little village next to it where we had a great lunch in a family run café with local dishes and wines. Within 5 minutes walk the opposite direction, you will find a great restaurant in an old monastery which is on the pricier side but very good value Getting to Florence took around 20 minutes and within For Italian standards, the rooms were a little tired and found some dried mosquitoes on the tiles, but generally clean. The pool was a great addition to the stay despite only using once due to the bad weather during our stay. The reception lady was very friendly and informative, the only thing that was miscommunicated was with the delivery of a birthday cake which we ended up receiving the day after

My fiancé and I had a great stay at the castle. I would recommend to stay in the cooler months - as there is no air conditioning. August was very hot - there were two fans inside, however, it felt like blowing warm air around vs cooling down. I guess this is to be expected at a castle! The bed was also a bit firm for our liking. Limited toilet paper available, you have to take out your garbage, and supply your own cooking essentials such as salt, sugar, coffee, etc. Not ideal if you are only staying a few days. Otherwise, it was a pleasant experience. The on-site restaurant was lovely. If you are looking for a secluded getaway in the Tuscany countryside, this is a great option!

A gorgeous castle with a really interesting history. The views are stunning and the location is ideal. The restaurant is absolutely phenomenal too. The only drawback is that this unit is on the top floor of an old, not very well ventilated castle and the nights are insufferable during a heat wave, even with the fans provided. Also, the one bathroom has a sewage odor.

I knew we were staying in a castle but I was pleasantly surprised with how nice and large the rooms are. We had room 29 and the entry was into the kitchenette and sitting area with a large dining table. The bathroom was beautiful and very nicely updated. the beams in the main bedroom were absolutely stunning and then to walk out on the terrace overlooking the pool and gardens were so serene. We will definitely be back, such a wonderful experience at Montegufoni!!!

Exceptional!! Exceed our expectations and we loved every minute of our 4 nights in the castle! We loved our villa, very specious, well equipped, had a nice outdoor area for just us. Laundry machine close by with drying racks ready to use. The front desk manager was delightful and so welcoming! Restaurant on-site was fantastic, we had 2 nights there and loved both meals and the staff were so friendly and fun! My 8 year old loved her time at the resort, especially the pool! The pool was gorgeous and you just can’t beat the amazing gardens/scenery. We took a few day trips off property and it was a great location to get back to Florence (35 mins), and explore Tuscany towns! We truly loved our stay and we can’t wait to get back!

Wow! - that was our reaction when we arrived at the Villa. It is a stunning place with an amazing history. The reception team were super helpful and friendly and did everything they could do to make our stay enjoyable. Their onsite restaurant is open for evening meals, and the food and service was incredible. Our spacious apartment (family of 4) looked out over the grounds and pool and was such a beautiful view to wake up to. The apartment had a well equipped kitchen and was a perfect place to have a breakfast of local cakes and bread! The only thing to note is that not all the rooms have air conditioning (its a historical villa so popping the units on the walls would look terrible! ) They did have fans though and they kept the room cool at night for us. We have recommended the Villa to all of our friends and family already and will definitely go back again. A massive thank you to all of the staff there for making our stay so wonderful :)

Beautiful place for families and we’ll furnished. The swimming pool was just epic for the kids to enjoy after a long day of hiking. Staff is really friendly and provided us with great suggestions and tips. Make sure to bring your groceries for breakfast and lunch as the restaurant only opens for dinner. Nice restaurant though! Amazing place! So happy to have had the experience of living inside this historic landmark. As can be expected in a centuries old castle, comfort is not at four star hotel level, we were there doing a heatwave and did miss A/C, but the staff was accommodating and provided a third electric fan. L'emplacement est incroyable avec une vue sublime sur la campagne. Le restaurant est très bon et le personnel très sympathique. Il s'en serait fallu de peu pour un séjour parfait. Malheureusement mauvaise odeur persistante dans le logement, visiblement déja repérée puisqu'il y avait un diffusseur de désodoriasant automatique..... Ce logement est à considérer comme un hotel et non un airb'n'b. Equipement minimal de la cuisine avec aucun produit sauf un échantillon de produit vaiselle. Si il est compréhensible que le logement soit sombre puisque dans un vieux chateau, il l'est moins qu'il y ait si peu d'éclairage. Une seule lampe de chevet dans la chambre et sur la lampe d'appoint de la cusine une ampoule manquante.

Super Lage, nur 35 Minuten von Florenz. Tolle „Schlossatmosphäre“, sehr idyllische Plätze u.A. auch im Restaurant oder der Bar mit wunderschönem Ausblick. Die Kommunikation vorher und vor Ort war freundlich, schnell und unkompliziert. Wir hatten ein kleines Häuschen direkt am Parkplatz (das war uns vorher bekannt). Einziges Manko: Die Ausstattung der Küche war sehr einfach und der kleine Garten mit Blick auf den Parkplatz lud nicht gerade zum Verweilen ein, aber dafür gibt es im Schloss ausreichend andere schöne Plätze um sich aufzuhalten.

We had an incredible stay at Montegufoni Castle. A special and surreal experience to stay in a place with such history. The room was very spacious, and the view from the room was a wonderful surprise. We could see the rolling hills of Tuscany from all windows. No air con but the fans kept us very cool and the room is on the bottom floor. Quiet area but great surrounds for wine tasting and exploring by car. Beautiful pool to relax after a day out in the region. Lovely restaurant at the castle and local restaurants. We enjoyed every minute!

Das Schloss in dem unser Zimmer war ist wirklich toll! Man hat einen traumhaften Ausblick von der Terasse! Dem alten Gebäude geschuldet ist es, dass das Zimmer sehr dunkel ist. Unser Zimmer hatte Fliegengitter, was viel wert ist! Das Badezimmer ist in die Jahre gekommen. Der Aufenthalt dort war aber wirklich toll auf Grund des ganzen drum herums! Der Pool war immer gut besucht. In dem Restaurant muss immer reserviert werden, das Essen ist sehr lecker gewesen also lohnt es sich. Die Anlage an sich war zu jeder Zeit sehr sauber.

The old castello, the yards and the garden are really stunning. Also the view from the terrace overlooking the area is breathtaking. The bedrooms in the apartement are clean and tastefully furnished with respect for the history of the place, while the kitchen is rather dark. We stayed during a heatwave in July and beforehand we were nervous that there was no aircon, but the staff in the reception was really kind to provide us with several fans that worked surpricingly well during the hot nights. Remember to bring toiletpaper, soap, dishwasher soap, exstra dish cloths, salt/pepper etc. We didn’t know that, but again the staff helped us out untill we could drive to a supermarket.
